This gives an impression all software engineers have some model in their head of complex ever changing systems they work on, that actually fits in that head and stays up to date at the rate at which the software system changes.
The larger and more complex a project gets cognitive limits get hit whether you use AI or not. Do people then just do what someone else more experienced tells them to do? Yes.
Cause who likes to be held responsible for anything unpredictable happening in the universe that trips up your changes?
Theory of Bounded Rationality and its recommendations apply everytime any kind of limit is hit.
Cost. Cost to spam and scam tends to 0 at industrial scale. Meanwhile amount of time and resources telco want to spend on fighting it is Bounded by how much regulators are going to allow them to pass on to customers.
Well no one gets a free pass for too long. If prices rise consumers hold politicians responsible. Its just that the feedback loop plays out at different rates for the corps, cronies, politicians.
They wont dominate anything. They already are feeling pressure none of them are trained to handle.
The UN/UNESCO/Pope etc have all been talking about it for a year or two now. We are slowly going to see the appearance of something called a Digital Public Good.

The platforms produce too much content. Flooding the field as Steve Bannon calls it.
When Supply vastly exceeds Demand what else is going to happen? Systems start destablizing. After costs multiply some one will start building dams to control the flood.
I think it's difficult, if you're a millenial/zoomer/whatever we're calling these things, to understand just how much of the world genuinely liked and respected and wanted america involved in their local affairs.
America obviously wasn't perfect and many, many more people than trump were involved with squandering all of this goodwill, but we still had some left over before he showed up.
Its not a static system. Things will swing back and forth like a pendulum. And through those oscillation we move forward. Diff today is everyone is getting their heads filled 24x7 with a whole lot of info their grandparents never had to digest about how the system moves.
Also the law is not static. Things can go back and forth. Out of phase with whatever trends in news cycles. Watch the Germans debating Nuclear phase out over 30 years.
The problem with large scale industry investments like nuclear power plants is that they don't follow easily whatever trends in news cycles. It takes years to build a nuclear power plant, but it takes just a single vote in the parliament to stop it. Or a referendum like in Austria.
So even through some German politicians are currently discussing nuclear phase-in, no investor will invest in nuclear power in Germany, because no investor could be sure that the next or over-next government with participation of German Greens would not again vote for nuclear phase-out.
As much I like some political ideas of German Greens, I understand that for the older generation of Greens, nuclear power is the prime evil which has to banished from face of the Earth and the reason for existence of the German Green party.
Not a new problem. If you look at Power sector history world wide if they waited for investors to show up 3/4th of the world wouldnt be electrified. Once something is considered strategic and required even 30 or 50 years from now there are lot of existing ways to amortize costs and get things rolling. Things will move in the backgtound whatever the vote count is saying.
