Heh. USA user here. Several of the apps that say they work I have been unable to get to work.

So anyone reading this, be aware your experience may differ.

I'm on a pixel 10 pro and have never been able to get some of banking apps to work, despite the list saying they should.

It is likely a crapshoot, and while that list is informative it is necessarily a snapshot in time. FWIW, my banking apps have worked with no issues and have worked continuously since I migrated to GrapheneOS. I do have Play Services installed to be able to use Android Auto, and that required some fiddling with permissions before it started working, so your mileage may vary. By far the biggest annoyance for me is group text messages not being delivered while using an alternative user account, but that's a niche setup I guess.

The power is with the people. It only takes about 1/4th of a community enact massive change.

Your take is exactly what keeps people apathetic and reliant on others.

"It's someone else's fault and someone else's responsibility" is what you're saying.

It relieves the individual of the outcome of their actions. 8 billion people matter.

If I were an abuser, I would LOVE to hear my victims say they are powerless. Think about that.

Parent is not saying to be apathetic, but to stop trying to change the system while safely abiding by the system's rules. As I read it, it says: once we understand that the system is rigged, we'll turn our attention to those who rigged it (the ruling class), instead of making small useless acts these comments usually call us to do, like using cloth bags or voting for liberals (as opposed to the left).

And no, the power is very much not with the people: 4/4th of the pop sure as hell don't want to have precarious lives, yet they don't seem to manage to change that since forever, except if you squint.

"Please ignore the person above, they are a child abuser and you can look up evidence of it online (posts list of crusty questionable sites that seemingly popped up out of nowhere). The above is just a tiny sample of what will happen to you when you start challenging people with power. You see, powerful "bad" people don't care how many accusations you make against them. They will flood the field with noise so people just ignore it. Now you, because you're a good guy have to be the most perfect little angel or all your followers will run away in disgust.

You know nothing about power and how to wield it. There better not be any skeletons in your closet because I will surface them. Hell, it doesn't even matter, I will plant them there.

Of course all the above is fictional, I'm not going to do these things to you because I'm not a person with millions of dollars threatened by your actions. But don't think threatening people with billions of dollars comes without cost.

That's called taking responsibility for your actions and being an informed consumer or a critical thinker.

Unfortunately that is completely undoable for most people nowadays. That's seen as "too much work" for most people. That's something that people see as a waste of time and should be done by something else for them. A knife should be a 5 second one-click buy, then when it sucks people will complain that all their options are bad.

You spent time/money traveling to a shop? In 2026!? Omg what a waste of time! Why didn't you aggregate the 500 product review sites and Reddit comments to pick 5 possible knives? (Sarcasm)

I used to buy/sell reddit usernames for astroturfing and it was always hilarious seeing one of my usernames on the front page.

People are anti-ai cuz it's easy. They say something, repost or like something, and they're anti-ai. Then they turnaround and use AI in their email or calendar or to make funny pics or whatever. They watch AI generated content and engage with it.

Anti-AI is pretty NIMBY. People want AI, they just don't want AI data centers in their area or to give up their use/privilege.

No. There's a lot of local regulations being enacted to prevent datacenter builds.

While I agree that it goes beyond social media, I don't believe your statement is evidence to such. I would call that more the manifestation of anti-Ai sentiment wherever they pick it up.

There won't be. Anytime the environment becomes a leading issue there are suddenly price issues which make people vote for short term solutions.

Gas is expensive. Food is expensive. Insurance is expensive. People will vote for whoever claims they'll lower prices, which usually means deregulation in the United States.

We have been borrowing against the environment for generations. Every burger we eat is a loan on the future. Every excessive piece of plastic that makes our lives more convenient is a loan on the future. No way in hell the average consumer chooses to give up anything while the rich and the politicians do nothing. Social media has convinced too many people that others are to blame and it's not their fault. Nobody will sacrifice their privilege while others carry on.

The time to take meaningful action was 40+ years ago. We are long past voters making a difference. Society needs to change drastically and now. That simply is not going to happen.
