I just looked it up: apparently they silently uploaded your entire repo with the entire git history to the cloud. A feature not controlled by any settings, operating and retrying silently.
Their excuse was that it was a file indexing optimisation and they forgot to create a toggle or setting around it. As an apology they open sourced the harness, but wiped out the history.
It sounds to me like a good distillation technique if the project has hundreds of commits written by Claude and detailed commit descriptions. Also for completeness Grok did the exact same thing two months ago.
It’s quite the opposite. The AI language in this case is tiring and dumb. Just because there is the concept of a pace car doesn’t mean it makes sense to pace random locations or objects. Pacing the front door, pacing the cat, pacing the sofa, pacing the moon. We only know what it means because we already read it before. It is the lazy semi-human language by Claude which takes more effort to parse than to produce, and which makes us miss and appreciate writers.
I might be weird but actively prefer the trackpad to keyboard and mouse as I can let my fingers rest on the keyboard at all times and use the thumb when needed to touch the excellent trackpad. That’s better than removing the whole hand to grab the mouse just to click something.
My home setup has both a trackpad and mouse (and a separate keyboard). I like them both. In practice I use 65% mouse and 35% trackpad I think. Trackpad is great for horizontal (or 2d) scrolling and gestures. Mouse has better ergonomics for accurate pointing, and is more natural in some apps (eg KiCAD).
I agree. Trackpads also come with gesture support for things like switching between windows which I found difficult to live without. Unfortunately it's not very ergonomic to use a laptop with it's trackpad when you're using multiple screens.

I would not have the cognitive space to deal with it alone.
Well, they could have written something like "The 2.0 release itself will be in the next few weeks" or "It will be a few weeks before the actual 2.0 release".
(But I agree that "land" is fine here, and the rest of TFA doesn't strike me as obviously AI-written. And I'm not a fan of the "look, they did one thing that AIs often do! Must be AI and therefore bad!" thing in any case.)
Yes. When you have to keep fighting against the tool it’s better to give up. They have spent millions making it exactly like that my little prompt won’t fix it.
In this example the “exception” that proves the rule though was not a smarty-pants special circumstance. Using AI for shopping is just one of its many normal usages and if anything proves it is used by normal people doing normal things. It’s not like the rare example that happens once in a hundred years.
