The only real sensible date format is yyyy-mm-dd, makes it easy to sort.

Agreed. You can leave out the hyphens to make sorting even easier with almost no loss of readability.

I absolutely see a lack of soulless clankers to be a feature.

I completely agree that focusing on "scripting" would be great. Clanker proxies can allow their clanker to use it while grumpy bastards like me can stick to Bash to automate it.

I read it more as a senior living facility.

Those folks pay out the effing nose, they ought to be allowed to control the temp in their apartment.

I'd rather open it up and remove/destroy just the network card.

(I don't have to do so though because my tv is 20 years old.)

What if the network isn't on a separate card?

Remove the AC coupling capacitor connecting the antenna to the transceiver.

That'd be the time to grab your hammer, baseball bat, or shotgun.

Then if you are lucky, the telescreen is in an unusual position. By sitting in the alcove, and keeping well back, you might be able to remain outside the range of the telescreen.

The Anubis anime girl is an instant tab close for me, especially while in public. I dont like having to explain to people that I'm not one of those creepy anime guys.

uBlock Origin filter to block the anime girl from loading:

  ! Title: Hide Anubis Image
  */.within.website/x/cmd/anubis/static/img/*.webp$image

That’s the most insecure thing I’ve heard in a while. What other things randomly flashing across your screen disturb you? Do you imagine your coworkers keeping count of which ads are displayed in your browsers? Do you imagine that they don’t also see the Anubis loading screens?

It isn't even anime style, it gives me more western cartoonish vibes.

From someone who doesn't want to associate with it, I think 'anime girl' is fair. Even if people who consume it might (and do) categorize it otherwise.

I disable workers.

I forgot to do so on my phone. I noticed Firefox had slowed to a friggeb crawl when opening pages. Disabling web workers fixed that.

I too find it really weird. My grandpa was a member of a violent antifascist organization (US Army, 1940s). The US government even awarded him multiple medals for his antifa activities.

The Fa has taken over the US government.

The last bit boggles my mind. I'm american. There's not a single bottle of whisky made down here that can compete with Canadian whisky.

Different product. Bourbon owns a lot of headspace with consumers, and is not available in most of the country right now. There are Canadian made Bourbon-like products, but nothing will fill that niche for purists.

I imagine there's a similar thing going on with California wines. But less so.

I think you're right for most.

I think Canada needs to come up with a trade name/standards for their Bourbon-likes.

Try Westward out of Portland.

I'm in the same boat.

Hell, I was given a bunch of old iphones recently, all of which are newer and better hardware than my phone. I wiped them and donated them to charity.

Buying media doesn't mean the creator gets any real money. I've got a friend that was in a fairly popular band decades ago. Their label made millions of dollars off album sales, he made about enough to buy a used Toyota and a microphone.
